Photographing weddings since 2001, I have seen it all, from three-day soireés to last minute “just us” nuptials. While they are all special in some way, there are some that really stand out for me…it may be a unique story (lifelong friends getting married at 80-years-old?), an unconventional ceremony (exchanging vows aboard an airborne biplane!?), or it might have taken place at a venue I either find particularly beautiful, or one that I’ve not shot at much and want to show something new. Or maybe it was an event where I was given time to flex some creative muscles (no, those illuminated smoke sparkler exits, flame-filled diamond rings, and epic tide pool reflections of dramatic Key West skies don’t just happen by magic), and sometimes it’s just a great connection with genuine, fun-loving, laid-back people whose conversations I cherished and whose stories I want to share.
It was spring of 2019 when Matt went on a first date to the movies with Eric, and even though they didn’t love the film, they still considered that the first day of their love story. I would eventually meet them when Matt planned a surprise engagement photo shoot and Eric said yes! Fast forward to the big day of the wedding, when the guys came back to Key West and officially tied the knot at the Casa Marina Resort.
Karen and Keith’s Key West wedding at The Reach Resort was celebrated in style with an oceanview ceremony on the gazebo over the water, a balcony cocktail hour, and beachfront reception with dinner and dancing in the Caribe ballroom. Congratulations to the happy couple!
Going to a friend’s for a birthday party might not seem like the start of a typical love story, but for Kaitlin and Blaine, it was the genesis of a beautiful relationship that started as they both arrived to the party, ended up on the same four-wheeler together, and the rest - as they say - was history! I knew they had something special when I met them first during their Engagement, and was thrilled to find out soon after that their wedding would also take place here in paradise as well at none other than the beautiful Reach Resort.
So a girl walks into a bar….The owner’s there…big tall handsome guy, he is. He says ‘Hey, I remember you; you came here a year ago.’ Girl says ‘Yeah? What about it?’. Guy says ‘I’ve been waiting for you to walk back through those doors someday.’ Girl says ‘Why’s that?’. He says ‘So I could ask you on a date, fall in love, and run away to Key West to get married someday’.”!
Okay, so maybe that last part is a liiiiittle bit of an exaggeration, but that girl? That was my bride, Jessica! And the guy? Her handsome groom, Shaun! And they DID go on that date, they DID fall in love, and they DID (of course!) come to Key West to get married!
What’s the perfect remedy for two people in the medical field when they fall in love? Head to Key West and say “I Do!” of course! Sam and Megan met when Megan was working as a nurse and Sam as a medic. They learned quickly their mutual love of family walks, Disney, and fireworks, and a relationship grew.
When it came time to ask Megan to marry him, Sam borrowed a tactic that had worked for his own dad many years before, and wrapped a present, proposing on Christmas Day! From their home in Deerfield Beach, they planned the perfect wedding in paradise, and I had the honor of taking part as their Key West photographer to capture the memories!
What do you get when a couple meets up for margaritas and hits it off from day one? You get the start of a love story that can only culminate with a wedding in Key West, where “5 o’clock somewhere” is a state of being and margaritas are a way of life. Kimberly and Jason’s relationship then grew over dog walks, Netflix binges, and evening on the back deck sipping whiskey or having a glass of wine, when one rainy day in Portsmouth, Jason surprised Kimberly and asked her to be his wife!
Celebrate with newlyweds Adele and Michael, as they brought their intimate group of family and friends to Key West, Florida, for a lovely ceremony on Smathers Beach, and preparations and reception at Ocean Key Resort.
When a couple who love cooking together and watching British Bake Off, you’ve got the perfect “recipe” for a great match! Christina and James soon realized they also loved playing board games, going for walks, and dancing together…so much so that they danced their way all the way to Key West where they got married at the Southernmost Beach Resort!
When Ashley and Alex met in college, they realized a mutual love of architecture while hanging out in the same circle of friends, but eventually their affections for each other grew. With a passion for movie nights, ski trips, hiking, brewery-hopping, city sight-seeing, and - appropriate for a wedding in Key West - long naps on the beach. I would get the opportunity to be part of their wedding day celebration, as they invited family and friends down to paradise and got married aboard the historic Schooner America II!
In a town where destination weddings for visiting couples is the norm, it was a welcome delight to celebrate with Elizabeth Toppino and Steven Davies, two Key West locals who brought together friends and family for their joyous celebration as they said their “I do’s” and danced the night away as husband and wife!
So much love, family, and happy memories! That’s what comes to mind when I think back on Ava and Adam’s big day in Key West! Originally meeting online, they realized they shared love of the outdoors through fishing and camping trips.
Once Adam knew Ava was “the one”, he proposed during a sunset cruise in Key West, and realized they loved the town so much they had to get married here as well! Enjoy their wedding day below and relive all the happy memories together as they celebrate at Fort Zachary Taylor State Park and declare their love to the setting sun.
Every now and then, I get clients like Rob and Bill, who bring a whole new meaning to having a bright, vibrant, colorful kind of wedding day! Between their vibrant ensembles, energetic downtown photo locations, rainbow smoke bombs, and historic schooner ceremony sail amid the blue hue waters of the Atlantic and the warm tones of the sunset, it was a day filled with joy, laughter, and lots of love!
Cotton candy skies, colorful sparkly stones, and a circle of loving family members were the order of the day for Carly and Ron’s Key West wedding on Sunset Key! The couple brought together their closest friends for a destination ceremony on the beach, as boats sailed by in the harbor and the sun set over the horizon. It was a magnificent day filled with magic, as the bride and groom exchanged their vows and welcomed in a new chapter in their lives together as husband and wife
As a fun loving couple who loves to travel and go on outdoor adventures in their home state of Colorado, exploring the local food scene and diving into new experiences is just one of the things that Kim and Darren enjoy together. It was no wonder, then, that they would choose a destination like the Florida Keys, where beauty, culture, character, adventure - and yes, good food! - are in abundance!
For most people, December is a time to don your best winter duds and cozy up by the fire. But if you’re Michael and Lauren, winter is a great time to head to Key West, put on a summery wardrobe, and walk down the aisle in Key West, Florida!
Together the couple enjoyed the sights, sounds, and colorful surroundings of paradise, culminating with a heartfelt intimate ceremony atop the historic Ernest Hemingway veranda as they said “I do”!
It was a gorgeous day in Key West as Jennifer and Matthew got married at the Southernmost Point Beach Resort! Surrounded by family and friends who flew in to be with them on their special day, the couple celebrated with an intimate ceremony on the beach, followed by dinner and dancing with their guests under the sunset skies of the Florida Keys.
I’ve done every kind of wedding you can think of….on airplanes, on boats, on beaches….in gardens and churches, on rootops and inside historic fortresses….you name it, I’ve done it.
But it was not until recently that I’d ever done a surprise wedding! Yes, you read that correctly. Engaged before the pandemic, plans kept getting pushed back and back. The bride being herself a wedding planner, it was clear planning her own wedding while also tending to her clients would be just too much.
That’s when David decided to plan their day as a complete surprise! And so on a sunny day in Key West, with guests flown in from near and far, the bride who always makes days perfect for everyone else, was surprised with a ceremony she never could have imagined!
They say the best relationships start out as friendships. Such was the case when Katie and Ed’s relationship first began as coworkers and eventually blossomed into friends. Over the years, this grew into a romance, and when she was least expecting it, Katie realized they were meant to be! Combining a love of travel, binge watching their favorite tv shows, playing tennis, and rowing classes, the couple had so much in common that it would naturally lead to their engagement.
Like something out of a fairy tale, Ed flew Katie to Paris, and under the Eiffel Tower, he asked her to spend the rest of their lives together! This is when they decided to invite their closest friends and family to join them in Key West for their romantic destination wedding!

He proposed during a historic snow storm on the Seattle waterfront, cleverly hiding the ring in some foil so that she wouldn't notice a big clunky box in his pocket. Their Key West wedding was originally set for Summer of 2020, but like so many other couples, Taralynn and Eric would have their big plans put on hold.
But finally on a beautiful afternoon with their children at the altar with them, the couple were finally able to exchange their vows with warmth of the setting sun, accented by a gentle tropical breeze and the love of their friends and family around them.

When a couple reaches out to me to say they’re planning a Vow Renewal, that’s when I sit up a little and take notice. Couples like Monica and Michael are special because despite having hit the bumps, been through the stuff, and come out on the other side ready to not just continue the next chapter of their lives, but want to shout it from the rooftops with a second ceremony in front of all their family and friends, proclaiming to both each other and the world, “we’re in this for the long haul.”

Gretchen and Bobby were supposed to have their dream Florida Keys wedding when the pandemic hit and everything got put on hold. Come summer of 2021, it was time to make the magic happen, so we made the drive up to the beautiful Cheeca Lodge in Islamorada, where we would capture not only their beautiful seaside ceremony, but a family portrait session and a Trash the Dress all in one day!
There’s a stretch of sandy beach in Key West, where the palm trees are tall and plentiful, the surroundings spacious, and the sounds as tranquil as a summer breeze - save for the occasional sniffles, giggles, and smooches coming from those gathered for a romantic wedding ceremony. The location is Smathers Beach, and the couple? None other than my bride and groom, Regan and David.
The first time Juliana met Bobby, she told him to “buzz off”. Thankfully, he tried again. A few casual first dates turned into a few years, a few adventures, and a few adorable fur-babies, finally landing with them deciding to tie the knot with the picturesque tropical landscape of the Southernmost City as the setting for their perfect summer soiree. Check out their gorgeous Fort Zachary Taylor State Park wedding and Key West Garden Club (West Martello Tower) reception.
You just never know what a little persistence can do when planning the perfect wedding. Amanda and Joe had reached out to me a while back about photographing their Key West wedding, but when scheduling conflicts mixed with COVID19 threatened to postpone their wedding, we were excited to finally get the go-ahead, and I was so glad I got to be part of this amazing couple’s big day!
It was a small but intimate event, surrounded by their closest friends, at one of the most beautiful venues in Key West, Florida. Check out Sue-Lynn and David’s romantic seaside wedding on the dock of the Southernmost House, with the waves of the Atlantic splashing up around them, the sound of seagulls cawing overhead, and the warmth of the tropical sunshine adding a loving glow to their nuptials.
When life throws a curve ball - like a global shutdown just months before your wedding - at you, the only way to respond is to make sure you knock it out of the park. Such was the result of the absolutely STUNNING wedding of Jill and Mark, as they said “I Do” on the beautiful dock of the Reach Resort in Key West. It may have taking place one full year after their original wedding date, but that wasn’t going to stop them from having a night to remember!
What’s the perfect prescription for when two doctors fall in love? A little bit of Vitamin Sea! This is what Jennifer and Benjamin found when they brought their wedding plans to the little island town of Key West, Florida, to celebrate with their closest family and friends in a beachfront ceremony by the ocean.
They say you should never “race” into a relationship, but when Christopher first met Katelyn at a national awards banquet in Los Angeles, it was “racing” that brought them together….hydroplane racing, that is! The pair are both professionals in the sport, and quickly discovered that their love of the sport was matched only by their attraction to each other.
The first time Nicole saw William, they were both sitting at the same table in a Thayer Hall classroom located on West Point, NY at the United States Military Academy. Not too long after that first interaction, Will and Nicole became friends, and was by her side ever since. After she came home one day to find him on one knee, they planned their big day in Key West and celebrated with a small but sumptuous wedding at the Hemingway Home and Museum.
Capturing Jessica and Michael's wedding day in Key West was an absolute delight. Their love story began in Vale Colorado, eventually landing them in the Southernmost City at The Oldest House in Key West, which provided a historic and intimate backdrop for their friends and family. Surrounded by lush foliage and towering trees, we documented their day with cherished family members, each photograph a testament to the love and joy that only a Key West wedding can bring!
