Abby and David | Hawks Cay Resort Wedding

When some of your wedding guests are several Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins, you know you’re getting married in the Florida Keys!

Such was the experience for Abby and David, as they planned their nuptials for the beautiful property at Hawk’s Cay Resort in Duck Key (Marathon).

There were gorgeous flowers and sparkly details about in the room as photographer Karrie Porter got started taking the getting ready pictures, shooting images of the dress, rings, shoes, and other accents that would make up the bride’s stunning ensemble.

The girls got ready with Beauty Boutique and the Glam Squad, one of the preferred hair and makeup teams on the vendor’s list at Hawk’s Cay, who came out and did a great job offering airbrush makeup and hair styling in the comfort of the bride’s hotel suite.

David embraced the colorful and tropical style of a Keys wedding by donning his best Vineyard Vines attire, complete with necktie that we all tried our hands at getting just perfect before he walked down the aisle.

The ceremony was a gorgeous setup by Jill at Mile Marker Events, with coral sashes and white chairs, overlooking the beautiful blue waters coming in to the lagoon. Musician and singer Doug Yeomans flew into the Keys to provide the music for the ceremony and reception, and did a great job.

After the ceremony, the couple allowed the family to go to cocktail hour, while taking a breather to have some photos together around the stunning grounds of Hawks Cay. We took photos with the palm trees, on the green lawn, walking along the beach of the lagoon, and on the dock!

The reception was a lovely brunch style event, complete with french toast, delicious potatoes, an omelette station, and fresh fruit.

After their first dance, it was time to go meet the guests of honor - the dolphins! The majestic gray cetaceans left for joy when the couple come to greet them, and swam over to shake hands and congratulate the couple in person!

Dessert was a delicious combination of “glass” candy, petit fours, chocolate tarts, and miniature cupcakes, on top the beautiful teal cake with starfish accents to boot!

As we were getting ready to wrap up the party, the bride was expressing how beautiful a day it was, but boy was it sure hot! We made an offhand jest about how some brides like to “Trash the Dress” after the wedding, and she said she would love nothing more than to jump in the crystal blue lagoon! Her groom agreed and off we went!

It was a fun and lighthearted ending to a beautiful day, and the couple could not have been more adorable as they stepped out of the water hand in hand, ready to walk into their new life together!
