Kelly and Sasha | Navy Base Sunset Tiki Bar

Kelly and Sasha’s day started with getting ready photos at La Concha Hotel and Pelican Landing Resort. Each of the bride’s was with her respective family and friends to get hair and makeup done and get into their dress, before heading to Fort Zachary Taylor State Park to have their first look inside the historic fortress.

Because both brides are in the military, we had rare access to the Fly Navy base Sunset Tiki Grill and adjacent beach. It was the first time in my career I had needed to get government clearance in order to photograph a wedding! The ceremony space was set up beautifully with a bamboo arch and seating overlooking the ocean in the background.

After the ceremony, we took some time to gather family and friends who had traveled from far and wide to be in Key West with the couple. The backdrop could not have been more stunning, and the couple were more than willing to live it up with their close friends with silly antics and fun-loving images all around.

Moving into the reception, we had a gorgeous deck area overlooking the water, decorated in plum accent colors, with a guest signature matted frame for folks to leave their well wishes for the couple to display on the wall, and a “message in a bottle” idea to offer advice for the couple in their marriage.

There was dinner and dancing, each of the bride’s taking a spin around the dance floor with their dads, and of course, each other.

The evening concluded with an illuminated sparkler exit, and we had to definitely get that final epic sunset silhouette shot the couple had been envisioning as well!
