Carly and Ron | Sunset Key Island

Cotton candy skies, colorful sparkly stones, and a circle of loving family members were the order of the day for Carly and Ron’s Key West wedding on Sunset Key! The couple brought together their closest friends for a destination ceremony on the beach, as boats sailed by in the harbor and the sun set over the horizon. It was a magnificent day filled with magic, as the bride and groom exchanged their vows and welcomed in a new chapter in their lives together as husband and wife

The day kicked off with getting ready photos in the bridal….and groomal?….is that a word?….suite! The cottages on Sunset Key are the perfect setting for an island wedding, with a coastal contemporary feel, comfortable amenities, spacious suites, and plenty of natural light - perfect for the hair and makeup stylists to get the couple ready together, and perfect for me as I set about capturing details of their dress, jacket, shoes, flowers, and jewelry.

The rings were designed by the groom, with a variety of colored gems, accenting the yellow diamond engagement ring and Cartier diamond necklace.

Once the couple were ready, we joined the family on the picturesque lawns that adorn the private island resort, to capture some group photos before heading down to the ceremony.

The ceremony was set up at the end of the island, with a beautiful altar set up, and officiant Kat Newman inviting everyone to be seated and take their places. The unique half-moon design of the chairs was a lovely way to include everyone in the ceremony, as they watched on as the traditional vows, rings, and heartfelt words were exchanged.

After the “I do’s”, the group celebrated together with a big group portrait on the beach, before I gathered the bride and groom up for sunset photos along the shoreline leading from the ceremony site to the wooden boat docks. The skies illuminated with the rich hues only paradise can provide, and after a few quick stops along the docks as the sun dipped below the ocean’s edge, it was time to head to dinner at Latitudes restaurant, where Carly and Ron’s guests had gotten off to a great start enjoying appetizers and cocktails.
