Lauren and Mike | Kimpton Lighthouse + Hemingway House Wedding
For most people, December is a time to don your best winter duds and cozy up by the fire. But if you’re Michael and Lauren, winter is a great time to head to Key West, put on a summery wardrobe, and walk down the aisle in Key West, Florida!
Together the couple enjoyed the sights, sounds, and colorful surroundings of paradise, culminating with a heartfelt intimate ceremony atop the historic Ernest Hemingway veranda as they said “I do”!

Having met Mike and Lauren the year prior as they were in Key West planning their upcoming nuptials, it felt like saying hello to old friends as I arrived to their upstairs suite at the lovely Kimpton Key West Hotel. Lauren was busy getting her hair and makeup done by Debbie from Beauty Boutique & the Glam Squad, and Mike was getting organized for the day’s events.
We started with some candid getting ready photos, and captured images of the wedding dress, flowers, and a few fun decor items the couple had brought for the occasion.
With bridal portraits of Lauren completed and Mike tucked away for a few minutes, we went downstairs to the pretty green lawn area, where the couple were able to see each other all dressed up for their big day for the first time!
Having planned a fun itinerary around the island for photos, we then hopped in the car and headed to our first stop, the Key West Lighthouse, even climbing all the way to the top of the spiral staircase to get the amazing views over all of Key West!
Afterward we popped over to Truman Annex, and then to Fort Zachary Taylor, before heading to the Hemingway House for the ceremony.
Finally it was time to get married! We arrived to the Hemingway House and were greeted by Vicky Furman, their event coordinator and wedding officiant. We had a few minutes to spare, so took advantage of the opportunity to go around and get some photos on the grounds of the historic home. A few six toed cats even made an appearance into the background as the couple danced and snuggled before their walk down the aisle.
The ceremony was held at the top of the wraparound balcony, overlooking the lush grounds, with the lighthouse watching over the ceremony, as if to symbolically light the way to their new life together!
It was a perfect day filled with warm weather, sunny smiles, and lots of love! Congratulations to the happy couple, and here’s to a lifetime of memories to come!
