Alexis and Christian | Opal Key Resort
When Christian’s cousin introduced him to his friend Alexis, the start of a relationship was formed. Fast forwarding from there, they would eventually end up on a boat together, floating down the same river where they’d had their first date, and Christian proposed. It was only natural that between their love of the water and a love of the outdoors, that they should choose Key West for their destination wedding. This is where I met them and was able to capture their big day at the Opal Key Resort and Marina.

Arriving to the bridal suite that day at the Opal, I found Alexis getting ready with her mom and friends, putting on the dress, adjusting her accessories, and enjoying all the little details and moments with family before the day got underway. The gorgeous gown, the sumptuous flowers, and the sparkle of the rings, all made for beautiful detail photos as well.
Before long it was time to start heading down to greet their guests and recite their vows! The ceremony site was set up overlooking the water, with the warmth of the Key West sunshine gleaming in from overhead. A family friend served as officiant, delivering a beautiful ceremony as the couple exchanged their vows and rings, and were proclaimed man and wife before all of their guests.
With the newlyweds down the aisle and the family gathered together for group photos, I made use of the lovely lush greenery in front of the Customs House as the backdrop. As the group headed to cocktail hour, we snuck off to get photos on the docks and gave the couple some time to just enjoy their time together before the party started.
The couple enjoyed a first dance at the reception, both bride and groom danced with their moms, and friends and family got out on the floor to join in the revelry. They cut the cake and made their rounds enjoying everyone’s company, telling stories, remembering the past and looking to the future. It was a beautiful evening with much to celebrate.
