James and Sonia's Secret Engagement Shoot in Key West
While most of the Proposals that I photograph in Key West are done undercover, hidden in the trees while the big moment unfolds before me out on the beach, and the person being proposed to has no idea that I’m there, I also do “Secret Engagement Sessions”, like this one with James and Sonia!
Secret Engagement Sessions are slightly different from traditional proposal sessions, in that both parties know that there is a photo shoot (whereas with an undercover proposal, the person proposing knows I’m there, but the person being proposed to does not).
James decided to surprise Sonia with a "couples photo shoot", and it started out innocently enough, with photos in the lush greenery around Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park.
What she did not realize, however, was that he had something else up his sleeve….er….in his pocket, rather! With the waves of the Atlantic Ocean lapping up on the white sand beach, the seagulls cawing overhead, the sun setting in the distance, and the warmth of Key West all around them, James got down on one knee, an asked Sonia to marry him!
Of course, she said yes, and we were finally able to reveal what we had been planning all along! After a few moments of congratulations and giving Sonia a second to catch her breath, we looked over to the horizon to see that the Key West sunset was about to go down, and made our way over so we can incorporate that stunning scene into their final portraits on this happy day!
Congratulations to the happy couple, and thank you for choosing Key West, Florida as where you will forever remember this day in your relationship, the day you got engaged at sunset on the beach!
